Solor Power in Africa

CAIRO — Tunisia has acquired 500 solar systems to generate electricity for rural areas.

Japan's Kyocera Corp. has won a contract to supply and install solar power generating systems in Tunisia. The contract, awarded on Feb. 13, called for the supply of solar storage batteries to absorb energy during the day and generate power at night.

Tunisia has one of the smallest energy reserves in North Africa.
